Vogue US’s resident food writer for decades Steingarten was and is a clever, well-researched, entertaining and opinionated journalist. He is as full of ideas as he is opinions and this often perceptive book is a collection of things that mostly appeared in the pages of Vogue and it is brilliant. I’ve banged a picture of a page in the book where, in the late 1980’s, he completely predicts the advent of Deliveroo/Doordash etc and the shift in eating patterns their existence signifies. Amazing really.
