The Futurist Cookbook - F. T. Marinetti (First English Edition)
One of the inspirations behind my Picnic Book, this is BONKERS. Mostly not for cooking from, this is the manifesto of Futurism, written by Marinetti (founder of the movement), who goes to town on pasta, and does loads of other mad shit too.
Described by Elizabeth David as a ‘publication of preposterous new dishes.’ One of them is ‘Fennel and kumquats with sandpaper and velvet.’ Was Her Majesty right, or did she just not quite get it… She did list a few of his recipes in (later editions of?) Italian Food…
Publisher/Published: Trefoil, 1989 (Originally published in 1932 - this was its first time in English).
First Edition of the English translation. Hardback with dust jacket.
Condition: Good. Few knocks on the jacket and a slightly faded spine, but generally really good
