It is a fucking travesty, and a pleasingly irony, that this hasn’t become part of the gastronomic canon. There’s a weird recipe for ‘Virgin Mary’s Soup’, opposite something called ‘Mystery Mousse’ and tonnes of other dodgy shit to boot. Not all the recipes are bad, but there’s not a lot of good ones either. The allure, to TV audiences at least, of the Rev. John Eley, along with the popularity of all that worthless, terrible music, is one of the great mysteries of the 1980s. John has a good line in 2-out-of-10 jokes about nothing much at all, but never mind that, LOOK at the cover! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Even a glance at his beaming face, bald head and buck teeth and my spirits are somehow lifted. Do yourself (or your loved one) a favour, buy (them) this book, stick it on your mantle-piece among the family pictures and every day, will be a little brighter - which for a tenner, is FUCKING PRICELESS.
